WHAT IS ACTIVE LIGHTNING ROD?

Active lightning rods are also known as lightning rods working with the early flow warning principle. They are also defined as E.S.E active lightning rod by taking the initials of the Early Streamer Emission English word group. The working principle of active lightning rods is based on increasing the electric field intensity according to the current air loads. Thus, it provides protection against negative or positive lightning types. With the banning of radioactive lightning rods, these lightning rods were replaced by E.S.E. (Active) Lightning Rods. E.S.E. (Active) Lightning Rods are of two types: Electrostatic Lightning Rod Piezoelectric Crystal Lightning Rod For these systems, thinned pointed active lightning rods are placed at the highest point of the structures to be protected. The connection of lightning rods to the ground is made via the shortest path. The lightning protection they provide varies depending on the point where they are placed and the height of that point from the surrounding structures. Based on the principle of "excitation distance", the electro-geometric model method provides a reliable calculation of the protection level. With the banning of radioactive lightning rods, these lightning rods were replaced by E.S.E. (Active) Lightning Rods.
